This is a wonderful introduction to the Adirondacks. I can't believe I haven't been here before now. Hiking to the top of Hurricane was stupendous, the view was breathtaking, but I still have to say that sitting on the little red bench, looking out over the river, with my coffee in the morning was a highlight. We would love to come in the spring.

We've thoroughly enjoyed our winter trip to the Adirondacks. We've been coming to the Lake Placid/Wilmington area for years and your home is, by far, the most charming and cozy places we've ever stayed! Your lovely place is conveniently located near the ski hill and numerous snowshoeing/hiking trails and the beautiful views across the river are perfect for relaxing after a day of winter fun! We'll definitely be back!

What a fabulous weekend spent at your home in the Adirondacks. We loved the setting in the woods with the fantastic view of the river. Our highlights include the fine dining, listening to the iTunes on your stereo & snowshoeing. We will be back soon.

Between the most comfortable, relaxed and well equipped home we've stayed in for a long time to the hiking and skiing we were able to do in just 2 days -- we've had such a great time! Love the Town of Wilmington and will definitely budget more time for the thrift store the next time we come.

  • Incredible cabin, after a hard day on an icy Whiteface there is nothing like a good cabin! After skiing we would play table tennis or foosball, and every evening we watched a movie from the vast movie selection. The cabin's beautiful view of the frozen river was breathtaking, and Tilly, our black lab liked going for walks on it. - Jakob, age 13 1/2 years
  • I liked the table tennis and foosball table. I would also recommend a pool table. - Alex, age 10 3/4 years
  • Lovely cabin for two families (from New Jersey) -- so nice to have such a well-equipped dog-friendly home away from home. Tilly loved the frozen river and the smells of the wilderness, Jostien enjoyed his birthday cake with a view, the grown-ups enjoyed the fire and mugs of tea (and "Norwegian tea") around the fire pit, and of course we managed three days of icy skiing at Whiteface too. Thank you for thinking of, and providing, all the little extras for us -- iPod docking station, tea pot (good for us English!) and the DVDs... - Rebecca and Jostien (now aged 44)
  • We had a great time -- cabin very comfortable after a day's skiing on nearby Whiteface, with a relaxing view over the river. A fabulous getaway. - Simon and Catherine (Ageless)
Trout Landing says - We're hoping to get a pool table in the next year, Alex! We'd like to finish the basement in the fall of 2010 to add a pool table and t.v. room in front of the big windows. Unfortunately it looks like you missed the big snowstorm on Whiteface by a few days. We're down the weekend after you and have had 3 ft of snow. Hopefully you'll get better ski conditions next time you're here!
